The GBCC and its subunits‘ initiatives are overseen by a leadership team staffed by graduate students and members of th UNC-Chapel Hill community. These volunteers from various academic and personal backgrounds are especially driven to create opportunities for graduate students to access and experience a wider world of options for postgraduate careers.

Records of previous leadership meetings held in open sessions are available through the GBCC’s HeelLife (Anthology) profile. Draft meeting records and attachments are available to club members through the club’s SharePoint documents library.

Executive Board

The Executive Board is the core leadership team that enables the GBCC’s events and initiatives while ensuring its continuity for future students. All Officers of the Exec Board are elected every July for one-year terms or appointed by the President on an acting basis.

President

The President oversees the vision and direction of the GBCC and acts as its primary contact for the University and club advisors. The President also chairs meetings of the Executive Board to plan and direct the GBCC’s activities and strategies, then records its proceedings.

The Presidency of the GBCC generally demands up to 5-7 hours of work per week, mainly before major club events or in response to university-related proceedings.

Kéita Yokoyama (he/him), a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering, currently holds this position.

Director of External Partnerships

The Director of External Partnerships nurtures relationships between the GBCC and relevant non-university organizations. This Officer builds working relationships with various companies, individual professionals, and government agencies throughout and beyond the Research Triangle.

This position tends to require about 5 hours of work per week, typically in the form of maintaining emails, sporadic virtual meetings, and contact information.

Whitney Bell (she/her), a PhD candidate in Cell Biology and Physiology, currently holds this position.

Director of Internal Coordination

The Director of Internal Coordination facilitates communication among the GBCC’s members. Their work ensures that its members know about interesting events as well as key club announcements such as elections and constitutional amendments.

This position tends to require up to 5 hours of work per week, typically by managing email distributions and internal communications.

Yogitha Chareddy (she/her), a PhD candidate in Genetics and Molecular Biology, is the current officeholder.

Director of Alumni Relations

The Director of Alumni Relations maintains regular communication with former GBCC members. They maintain updated information about club alums and ensure transfer of knowledge to current students.

This position’s commitment is variable based on the scope of initiatives pursued.

Alex An (he/him), a PharmD candidate in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, currently holds this position.

Director of Compliance and Finances (Treasurer)

The Director of Compliance and Finances ensures good corporate citizenship by the GBCC. They maintain financial accounts held by the club, administer fundraising efforts, and administer Officer elections.

This position’s workload averages 5 hours of work per week, typically by virtual communications related to event logistics and financial policy management.

Yicong Liu (she/her), a Master of Science candidate in Public Health Policy, currently holds this position.

Director of Digital Infrastructure

The Director of Digital Infrastructure manages virtual information sources and platforms that enable the GBCC to do what it does. This includes maintaining this website, the club’s social media, and internal sources of information.

This position’s workload is expected to be less than 5 hours of work per week on average, mostly dealing with reviewing notifications and maintaining data.

Kristy Ma (she/her), a Master of Science candidate in Biostatistics, currently holds this position.

Partner of CGsquared

The Partners of CGsquared are the leadership team behind the GBCC’s pro bono strategy consulting arm. Partners connect local businesses with students interested in gaining practical business experience, then act as mentors for teams of student-analysts as they tackle real business challenges.

Kéita Yokoyama (he/him), a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering and the sitting President of the GBCC, is also the senior Partner at CGsquared.

Glory Dan-Dukor (she/her), a PhD candidate in Pharmacology, is a current Partner at CGsquared.

Director of Case Competitions

The Director of Case Competitions oversees the organization and execution of the GBCC’s annual case competition held jointly with its counterparts at Duke University and Texas Medical Center.

This position requires 5-10 hours of work per week for a limited time due to its seasonal, inter-institutional nature.

Jeena James (she/her), a Master of Science candidate in the UNC School of Medicine Microbiome Core, currently holds this position.

Director of Case Interviews

The Director of Case Interviews oversees and manages the Cases & Cases workshop. This event allows GBCC members to become familiar with (and excel at) case interviews for competitive job positions including management consulting.

This position requires about 3 hours of work per week, mainly focused on preparing for and organizing Cases & Cases workshops.

Aiman Abzhanova (she/her), a PhD candidate in Toxicology and Environmental Medicine, currently holds this position.

Director of Consulting Education

The Director of Consulting Education plans and oversees the GBCC’s annual Consulting Boot Camp alongside partners at UNC and NC State University.

This position requires 5-10 hours of work per week for a limited time due to its seasonal, multi-stakeholder nature.

Alex Billingsley (he/him), a postdoctoral scholar in Biomedical Engineering, currently holds this position.
